Fairytale

The Fairytale works derives from background landscapes in cartoon films and from the paintings of Claude Lorraine and Nicolas Poussin. Combining these two worlds of imagery in his paintings and objects, he creates a platform where he can comment on different issues in modern western society, such as the value of highly acclaimed art compared to mass-produced objects and cartoons, children's culture, art history, etc.

By using dark dripping colours in his paintings or by cutting out the figures and landscape in17th century paintings in his objects the work can both be perceived as amusing and ironic, as uncanny and disturbing.
